Polylactic Acid (PLA) is a material we use to create and print most of our products and is considered an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastics:

  • Energy use: PLA production uses 65% less energy than traditional plastics.

  • Greenhouse gases: PLA production creates 68% fewer greenhouse gases than traditional plastics.

  • Biodegradability: PLA is biodegradable and compostable under the right conditions. In a controlled environment, PLA can decompose into carbon dioxide and water in fewer than 90 days.

  • Renewable resources: PLA is derived from renewable resources, such as corn starch or sugarcane.

  • Environmental impact: When PLA products decompose, the carbon dioxide and water they produce are used by plants in the photosynthesis process.

  • Incineration: When corn-based plastics are incinerated, they do not emit toxic fumes like other petroleum-based plastics.
